Ahmedabad : 21-Year Sentence for Notorious Criminal Vishal Goswami

AHMEDABAD, 15 July - In a high-profile case, notorious criminal Vishal Goswami has been declared guilty by the Sessions Court of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, resulting in a sentencing of 21 years and 3 months. The court's judgment pertains to Goswami's involvement in an extensive array of crimes across the state, amounting to over 51 individual charges.

In a remarkable move, the court stipulated that the sentences will be served consecutively, ensuring the criminal will spend a minimum of 21 years in jail. The hefty sentence results from multiple charges that include a total of 13 registered murder cases - three in Ahmedabad and one in another state.

Evidence against Goswami was robust, with statements from 50 witnesses contributing to the conviction. Among his litany of crimes, Goswami operated an illicit network from Sabarmati Jail, where he demanded and collected ransoms, often targeting jewelers.

One of the key cases leading to Goswami's arrest was the murder of Mahesh Ranpara, the operator of the CM Zaveri jewelers showroom in Ahmedabad's satellite area. Back in May 2014, Ranpara received a threatening phone call from Goswami, who demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh. A subsequent armed attack on the jewelers confirmed the severity of the threat and solidified Goswami's reputation as a dangerous criminal figure in the region.
