Surat's Kapodra police have successfully busted a burglary ring that operated within a local electronics showroom. The gang, which was responsible for stealing items worth Rs 2.72 lakh, including 8 laptops and two mobile phones, from Jean Enterprises in Kapodra, has now been apprehended.
Security cameras at the showroom captured the entire incident, assisting the police in swiftly identifying and detaining the culprits. All stolen goods were successfully recovered from the arrested individuals.
On July 7, a break-in occurred at Jean Enterprises, located near Motinagar Society in Kapodra. Two unidentified perpetrators were reported to have fled the scene after pilfering electronics worth Rs 2.72 lakh. Upon being informed, Kapodra police promptly arrived on the scene, registering a case based on the shop owner's complaint, and launched an investigation.
The security cameras at Jean Enterprises played a crucial role in the investigation. They had captured clear footage of the thieves, who arrived and left the scene on a bike, carrying the stolen laptops and mobiles. Based on this surveillance footage and additional information, the police arrested two individuals named Laxman alias Lakhan Chhaganlal Jat and Mukeshbhai alias Ajju Bherulal Salvi, originally from Rajasthan and currently residing in Surat.
Interrogation of the accused led to further revelations. Laxman alias Lakhan Chhaganlal Jat admitted to stealing two motorcycles from Kapodra and Sarthana areas, which were then hidden at his residence. As a result, the police managed to recover stolen property worth Rs 3.67 lakh in total.
Further analysis of the CCTV footage and rigorous questioning of the suspects unveiled a distinct pattern to their operations. The accused would visit various electronics showrooms during the day, under the guise of potential customers, inspecting the layout and location of valuable items. Then, under the cover of night, they would break in, targeting the goods they had identified earlier. This meticulous modus operandi sheds light on the criminals' operations and may aid in preventing similar thefts in the future.
