Surat International Textile Expo - 2023' Sees Over 16,000 Attendees in Two Days

Surat: The Surat International Textile Expo - 2023, colloquially known as 'Citex', saw a turnout of over 16,000 attendees within just two days. The event is a collaborative effort by the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the South Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industry Development Center, and the Surat Techmac Federation.

Held at the Surat International Exhibition & Convention Centre in Sarsana, from the 8th to 10th of July, 2023, the Expo has attracted textile industry stakeholders from various parts of the country, including Jammu, New Delhi, Erode, Gurgaon, Gwalior, Hyderabad, Ichhalkaranji, Indore, Jalandhar, Jetpur, Jodhpur, Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu), Rohtak, Guwahati, Ludhiana, Tiruppur, Varanasi, Vaidhan (Madhya Pradesh), and Warangal.

Rajeev Saxena, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, was among the attendees. During his visit, he took a tour of the exhibition, exploring each stall and learning about the various textile machinery showcased.

The first day of the Expo saw 600 visitors, a number that skyrocketed to 10,417 on the second day, Sunday. Overall, during the two-day period, a total of 16,667 buyers visited Citex-2023, resulting in a significant number of inquiries for the exhibitors about textile machinery and accessories.

Exhibits at the event covered a broad range of industry elements, including textile machinery, textile auxiliaries and machinery, textile engineering, and technical textile-related machinery and accessories.

Among the standout exhibits was a weaving machine used to produce fabrics exported to Germany for use in BMW cars. Embodying the 'Make in India' concept, an 'Army' Electronic Jacquard Machine, made in India and boasting a speed of 1000 rpm, was also showcased.
