Union Minister Parshottambhai Rupala Advocates for Organic Certification at 'Surat International Textile Expo - 2023'
Minister Encourages Industrialists to Prioritize Quality, Innovation and Organic Practices in the Agricultural Sector
Surat: Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Parshottambhai Rupala, made a visit to the 'Surat International Textile Expo - 2023' (Cetex), urging industrialists to embrace organic certification as the world increasingly turns towards organic products.
The expo, which took place on July 8th, 9th, and 10th, 2023, was organized jointly by the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), South Gujarat Chamber Trade and Industry Development Center, and the Surat Techmac Federation. The event drew attention to the latest machinery and technological developments in the textile industry.
During his visit, Union Minister Rupala took the opportunity to address the industrialists present, encouraging a shift towards quality and innovation. He emphasized the growing importance of organic certification in the agricultural sector, citing the global trend towards organic farming.
The Minister highlighted the role of indigenous cows in future agricultural planning, proposing the development of brands centered around their milk, curd, ghee, and other dairy products. He pointed out that India, already leading in global milk production and fulfilling 24% of the world's total demand, is well-positioned to take advantage of this trend.
In addition, the Minister revealed that the country exports Rs 60,000 crore in the fisheries sector and has allocated a fund of Rs 1 lakh crore for improving post-harvest facilities. He listened to businesspeople from the agricultural and fisheries sectors as they expressed concerns about tariff, power, infrastructure, and services, pledging to work with various departments to address these issues.
Ramesh Vaghasia, President of the Chamber of Commerce, delivered the welcome address, while Vice President Vijay Mewawala extended gratitude to all attendees. Also in attendance were ex-president Himanshu Bodawala, honorary minister Nikhil Madrasi, honorary treasurer Kiran Thummar, former presidents Rohit Mehta and B.S. Aggarwal, and Deputy Mayor of Surat, Dinesh Jodhani. Dr. Sanjay Patel (Dungrani), a member of the Chamber, moderated the session.
