Gujarat : Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi Advocates for Humane Treatment of Unlicensed Drivers
Ahmedabad Rural Police Receives Helmets for Traffic Regulation Awareness
Home Minister of State, Harsh Sanghvi, emphasized the importance of humane treatment towards individuals caught driving without a license, during his visit to the inauguration ceremony of a Child Friendly Room at Paldi Police Station and a helmet distribution event for the police personnel.
Sanghvi, speaking to the police officers and policemen of Ahmedabad city, advised against viewing such individuals as criminals, emphasizing the necessity for a more understanding approach. While acknowledging that the police force has been moving towards a more compassionate handling of such situations, he urged them to strive for improved performance.
The Home Minister further addressed the urgency of women's safety, calling on the police to ensure prompt action and arrest of culprits in such cases. He stressed the need to utilize spaces like the new Child Friendly Room at Paldi Police Station exclusively for their intended purpose and not to clutter them with unnecessary items.
Taking a broader perspective on the role of the police force, Sanghvi stated that their duties should not only focus on maintaining law and order but also consider the humane aspect of their roles.
The Home Minister encouraged police officers to leave their work-related stress at the station and not carry it home. This came in response to the pressures officers often face due to comments or feedback on their work performance.
Highlighting traffic safety, the Ahmedabad Rural Police distributed helmets to approximately 1800 policemen. The initiative was organized in response to a tragic traffic accident last month that claimed the life of a woman constable from the Ahmedabad rural police, emphasizing the importance of adherence to traffic regulations.
