Stray Dog Menace Escalates in Surat: Toddler Attacked at Vegetable Market
Surat Municipal Corporation's Measures to Control Stray Dogs Appear Ineffective as Attacks Increase
Surat, July 6th - The city of Surat continues to grapple with the escalating issue of stray dogs, with an alarming incident of a 3-year-old boy being attacked at a local vegetable market in the Varachha area. The incident underscores the Municipal Corporation's failure to effectively address the problem of stray dog attacks within the city.
According to sources, the young boy, Bhavya Rathod, was with his mother at the vegetable market when he was suddenly attacked by a dog. While his mother was busy shopping, the unattended toddler fell prey to the vicious dog attack. The boy was immediately rushed to Smear Hospital for treatment after the canine bit him on the back.
The Rathod family resides in Varsha Nagar Society of the Varachha area. The head of the family, Kamleshbhai Rathod, works as a jeweler to support his wife and their son Bhavya.
This latest incident is part of a worrying trend in Surat, where cases of dog bites have witnessed a significant increase in the past few months. Stray dogs have been frequently attacking pedestrians, children, and even motorists.
The severity of the situation is highlighted by the long queues for anti-rabies vaccines observed at government hospitals in the city daily. Despite the Surat Municipal Corporation's special measures to control the stray dog menace, it seems the problem persists unabated, raising concerns about the effectiveness of the authorities' actions.
With both the summer and now the rainy season witnessing stray dog attacks, the residents of Surat city are increasingly concerned for their safety. The Municipal Corporation's inability to curb this menace continues to pose a significant threat to the city's inhabitants.
