Food Inspection Drive Leads to the Seizure of 181 Kg of Chilli Powder; Cleanliness Notices Issued to 10 Traders
In a significant drive to enforce food safety regulations, the Vadodara Corporation has undertaken inspections across various city locales. The officials collected 42 samples of paneer for analysis, shuttered four unlicensed businesses, and issued cleanliness notices to 10 vendors.
Following directives from the municipal commissioner for extensive sampling of paneer sold throughout the city, special teams comprising food safety officers were assembled by the designated officer and additional health officer. The teams inspected dairies and restaurants in Manjalpur, Karelibagh, Khodiyarnagar, New V.I.P. Road, and Harni Warsia Ring Road. All 42 paneer samples collected have been dispatched to the Public Health Laboratory for analysis.
The drive also led to the temporary closure of four businesses found operating without the requisite licenses. An additional 10 traders received notices concerning cleanliness standards, as per Schedule 04 regulations. In total, over 56 establishments were inspected by the food safety officers.
Adding to the crackdown's success, the team seized 181 kg of chilli powder, including 98.5 kg (valued at Rs 19,700) and 82.5 kg (valued at Rs 16,500) from Shanti Traders in the Hathikhana Market Yard. This seizure came after a sample of the chilli powder was collected for further testing.
These actions underscore the Vadodara Corporation's dedication to upholding food safety standards and ensuring public health in the city.
