National Doctor's Day Celebrated Enthusiastically at Surat Civil Hospital
Doctors and Nurses Saluted for Their Vital Role During the Corona Pandemic
At the Kidney Building of Surat Civil Hospital, 'National Doctor's Day' was marked with a colorful celebration by 'The Trained Nurses Association of India-Surat'. The occasion saw nursing sisters blow peace-symbolizing balloons, cut cakes, and salute their fellow doctors in appreciation for their service.
Iqbal Kadiwala, from the Nursing Council, spoke about the significance of 'National Doctor's Day' as a day to acknowledge the dedication and service of doctors. These 'angels in white aprons' have been instrumental in ensuring the health and wellbeing of individuals from birth and beyond, he said, and have stood as pillars of faith amidst the worldwide turmoil of the corona pandemic.
Kadiwala also praised the efforts of the new Civil Hospital, the largest in South Gujarat, in its tireless dedication to public health. He highlighted that the hospital's doctors and nursing staff have been offering free health-related services to all those in need. Drawing attention to the crucial relationship between doctors and patients, he noted that a doctor's smile can often be more healing than medicine.
Recognizing the heroic role of medical professionals during global crises, Kadiwala commended doctors for their life-saving contributions during disasters like the Corona epidemic, rail accidents, and plague outbreaks. He further emphasized the invaluable role of nurses in healthcare, equating them to the flip side of the medical coin where doctors reside.
"On one side of the coin is the doctor, and on the other is the nurse," he said, praising the familial care provided by medical staff, attributing it to the recuperation and good health of patients.
Dignitaries present at the event included Medical Superintendent Dr. Ganesh Govekar, RMO Dr. Ketan Nayak, Dean of Government Medical College Dr. Ragini Verma, Principal of Government Nursing College Indravati Rao, Dr. Ashwin Vasava, Dr. Prithviben Kapadia, Dr. Nilesh Kachadia, various departmental Doctors, Faculty of the College of Nursing, Head Nurse, Staff Nurse and other nursing staff.
