Surat Bus Crash: Four Injured as BRTS Bus Collides with Stand

A chaotic scene unfolded at the VR Mall Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) bus stand in Surat when a BRTS bus collided with the stand, injuring four passengers. A hasty overtaking maneuver led to the loss of control, resulting in the bus full of passengers crashing into the bus stand.

Passengers traveling in the bus were thrown into each other due to the abrupt collision. Two of the injured were immediately taken to Civil Hospital for medical attention.

The accident has sparked ongoing debates regarding the safety of the BRTS buses in Surat. This is the latest in a series of accidents involving BRTS buses.

Passenger and security guard Deepakbhai Bahadurbhai Chauhan, 34, recounted the events leading up to the crash. He boarded the bus in Magdalla to go to his job at a diamond company in Ichhapore. The bus driver, attempting to overtake another vehicle, lost control of the steering and crashed into the VR Mall BRTS bus stand.

The impact of the collision injured four passengers, who were flung in the air and hit the pipes inside the bus. In the ensuing panic, a stampede occurred in both the bus and the bus stand.

After the accident, the bus driver disembarked and began making phone calls, seemingly unfazed by the chaos. Meanwhile, the accident left the bus stand with significant damage. One of the injured passengers has been identified as Kaniya Brijlal Vishwakarma. Further investigations are ongoing as authorities delve into the circumstances of this unfortunate accident.
