Fatal Hit-and-Run in Ahmedabad's Jamalpur Area; One Killed, Two Critically Injured
Driver Flees Scene, Abandoning Vehicle, as Local Authorities Launch Investigation
Rising incidents of traffic accidents in Ahmedabad reached a new peak on Tuesday with a hit-and-run case near Jamalpur's New Mosque resulting in one fatality and two critical injuries. The driver, alleged to have been intoxicated and speeding, immediately fled the scene, abandoning his vehicle.
According to local sources, a reckless motorist in the city's Jamalpur area was driving at high speed when he struck a middle-aged man who was en route to offer prayers at the mosque. The victim died at the scene, while two other individuals were critically injured and promptly admitted to a nearby hospital. Bystanders rushed to assist in the immediate aftermath, and authorities were quickly alerted to the incident.
The driver's immediate flight from the scene has launched a police investigation, as they work to uncover further details and apprehend the suspect.
This tragedy follows a separate fatal accident in the city the previous day. Amid heavy rains, a young man lost control of his vehicle near the underbridge near Parimal Garden. The vehicle capsized, and an oncoming car ran over the man's head, leading to his instant demise.
These back-to-back tragedies highlight the growing concerns over road safety in Ahmedabad, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations.
