Gujarat Government Prepares to Train MLAs on New Technology
182 MLAs to Receive Tablet and App Training Ahead of Monsoon Session, Enabling them to Interface with Lok Sabha
The Gujarat Government has unveiled plans to technologically upgrade its assembly by providing all 182 MLAs with tablets and online app training ahead of the monsoon session. This initiative is aimed at improving legislative efficiency and fostering better digital connectivity with the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's Parliament.
Under the "One Nation One App" campaign, the Gujarat Legislative Assembly will be the first state assembly in India to synchronize its data with the central government's app. The implementation of the e-Vidhan Sabha system is anticipated to be in place in Gujarat before September.
Meetings and consultations on this technological transition have been underway in the assembly for the past two days. Tablets will not only be distributed to all MLAs, but will also be installed throughout the assembly building. The new app will incorporate a feature allowing constituents to pose questions to their MLAs online during the House sessions. In turn, MLAs will be able to respond and address these queries promptly within the House.
The monsoon session of the assembly, scheduled for the first week of September, will be the debut of these new technological enhancements. To ensure smooth adoption, the government plans to provide tablets and app training to all MLAs before the session commences.
IAS officer Vijay Nehra is overseeing this project. A technical team of over 50 members has been practicing with the new app and e-assembly system. The aim is to complete all technical aspects related to the app and e-assembly system before India's Independence Day on August 15, ensuring the technology is fully operational for the upcoming monsoon session.
