SURAT — A dramatic rescue operation by the Surat Fire Department ended on a high note when a one-year-old child, who had accidentally locked himself in a room, was safely extracted. The incident, which occurred at a residence on Sukhadia Street in Surat's Haripura, resulted in a tense half-hour before the successful rescue took place.
The toddler had been playing in a room while his mother was in the house's lobby and his father was away at work. Unbeknownst to the mother, the child inadvertently closed the room's door, effectively locking himself inside. The child's cries alerted the family to the predicament, resulting in a call to the fire department for assistance.
The rescue operation was led by Fire Officer Mahesh Patel, who arrived promptly at the scene with a team of trained professionals. The team formulated a plan that involved Marshal Vishal Dhawan entering the locked room via a window from an adjacent house. With the support of a team managing a rope from the roof, Marshal Dhawan was able to reach the trapped toddler and liberate him from the room.
The whole operation was executed within half an hour, eliciting a collective sigh of relief from the worried family and gathering neighbors. On seeing his mother, the toddler's crying subsided, and smiles broke out on everyone's faces.
