Surat, June 23, 2023 – Residents of Varachha-Katargam and several areas within the Central Zone of Surat should brace for a disruption in their water supply on Monday. Repair work is scheduled to address a leakage issue in the water line originating from Varachha Water Works, located in the Varachha zone of the Surat Municipal Corporation.
To facilitate the repairs, water supply will be temporarily halted on Monday. The Surat municipality has issued an appeal to residents in the affected areas, urging them to use water judiciously and store an adequate supply to meet their requirements during the disruption.
The leakage in the existing water line, responsible for supplying water to the Varachha and Central Zone areas, has been identified near Varachha Main Road, opposite Gitanjali Petrol Pump in the East Zone-A (Varachha) area of Surat Municipal Corporation. The repair work is scheduled to take place from 8 am to 11 pm on Monday.
Consequently, certain areas within the Varachha zone will experience an interruption in their afternoon water supply. Similarly, areas in the Katargam zone relying on this line for evening water supply, as well as the northern sections of the Central Zone, will also be affected. The temporary suspension of water supply will be in effect throughout Monday.
The Surat municipality has provided a list of areas that will be impacted by the water supply disruption:
- East Zone-A (Varachha): Ashwinikumar, Phoolpada, Lambe Hanuman Road, Umarwada, Nana Varachha Karanj, Kapodra, Sitaram Societies, Aimata Road, and surrounding areas.
- Central Zone (Northern Section): Railway Station Delhi Gate to Chowk Bazar, Highway to North Mahidharpura, Rampura Haripura, Syedpura Dhastipura, Shahpur-Nanavat, and all surrounding areas.
- Katargam Zone: Katargam Darwaza, Sumul Dairy, Sumul Dairy Road, Alkapurigotalawadi, Katargam Children Home, and its surrounding area.
The Surat municipality apologizes for any inconvenience caused and assures residents that the repair work is essential to ensure a reliable and efficient water supply. They appreciate the cooperation and understanding of the affected residents during this period.
