SURAT - In a tragic incident that took place in Damka village of Surat district, a 9-year-old boy lost his life after accidentally drowning in a local lake. The young boy had left his house on his bicycle, intending to bathe in the lake. His unexpected demise has cast a somber shadow over the family, leaving them in deep sorrow.
Ranjit Singh, the deceased boy's father, originally hails from Bihar and has been living with his family in a rented house in Damka village for the past four years. Working as a wage laborer, he provided for his two sons. The elder son, Golu Kumar, who was the victim of this unfortunate incident, was a student at a nearby school.
Golu had left his house on his bicycle and was gone for an extended period. The family received the devastating news that Golu had drowned in the lake, following which his body was retrieved. As the eldest son of the family, Golu's sudden and untimely death has deeply shaken the family and the community.
Golu's body has been taken to Surat Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The tragic incident has sparked a renewed concern about safety around local water bodies.
