Candidates Narrow Down in FOSTA Election Race

Surat : FOSTA Elections See Nomination Withdrawals and Cancellations

SURAT - The election landscape for the Federation of Surat Textile Association (FOSTA) has recently changed, with a reduction in the number of official contenders. Out of a total of 100 nomination forms issued for the upcoming FOSTA elections on July 8, six were not submitted by the due date, and seven have been invalidated, as per the election officials' assessment.

Moreover, on Friday, a significant event unfolded when three candidates decided to pull back from the race voluntarily. The three candidates who have chosen to withdraw are Dishant Bagrecha of Sardar Market, Ramratan Rathi of Raj Textile Tower, and Omprakash Gandhi from Awadh-1.

The invalidated forms belonged to notable candidates like Shravan Mangotia of Salasar Market, Kamlesh Jain of Millennium Market, and Mukesh Jain of Sakar Market, among others.

After these developments, the candidate pool for the FOSTA board of directors' election has slimmed down to 84 contenders for 41 available seats. With the last date for withdrawal of nominations set for June 19, there is a palpable sense of anticipation. It's yet to be seen whether more candidates will choose to step back or if the officials will be forced to revoke additional forms due to an excess in any one panel.

The candidates have the option to keep their candidature for another panel or to maintain an unbiased stance by refusing to withdraw their names. These decisions could lead to significant shifts in the political landscape of FOSTA as the elections approach.
