Cyclone Biparjoy's Fury Hits Vadodara: Woman Killed in Wall Collapse, Three Injured by Falling Tree

VADODARA - The effects of Cyclone Biparjoy continue to ravage Gujarat for a projected 36-hour span, leading to a deadly incident in Vadodara's Chikhodra Dhanyawi, where a woman was killed as a wall of a building collapsed due to the stormy winds.

The victim was tending to her livestock when she was tragically trapped under the collapsed wall. Despite rescue efforts by the fire brigade, the woman succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital.

Elsewhere in the city, in the Nagarwada area, a large banyan tree was uprooted due to the sudden gusty winds near the Municipal Corporation Ward No. 7 office. The fallen tree seriously injured three people, damaged a rickshaw and two two-wheelers, and blocked the main road leading to Nagarwada. The fire brigade was immediately on the scene, initiating rescue operations and clearing the road by cutting up the tree.

Victims and bystanders raised allegations against the local administration, claiming that despite several prior warnings about the precarious state of the tree, no preventive measures were undertaken. The events underline the intensity of the cyclone and its impact, raising questions on the adequacy of preparatory steps taken to minimize the destruction.
