Cristiano Ronaldo makes history: Breaks Messi's World Cup record by scoring two goals

Football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has made history with a stellar performance against Uzbekistan in the FIFA World Cup 2026 group match. At the age of 41, he became the oldest player to score two goals in a single World Cup match, showcasing his incredible fitness and dedication to the sport.

Ronaldo achieved this historic feat just 24 hours after Lionel Messi set the record for the oldest player to score two goals. With these two goals against Uzbekistan, Ronaldo has also become the only player to score in six different World Cup editions.

With these two goals, he has surpassed the previous record of nine goals held by the great footballer Eusebio, becoming the highest scorer for Portugal in World Cup history with a total of ten goals. In this match, Portugal secured a strong position in the tournament by defeating Uzbekistan 5-0.
