Rajkot's PGVCL Gears Up in Anticipation of Cyclone Biparjoy
Engineers and Line Staff on Standby for Potential Disaster Response
RAJKOT - As Cyclone Biparjoy takes aim at the Gujarat coast, Rajkot's Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL) team is fully mobilized and prepared for action. The utility company has placed all line staff, engineers, and contractors on standby, ready to respond to any emergent situations.
Under the direct supervision of Managing Director M.J. Dave, PGVCL has already made advance preparations for manpower and material. Chief Engineer D.V. Lakhani has provided guidance on the necessary preparations during administrative meetings.
"All precautions are being taken in light of the impending cyclone," said Chief Engineer Lakhani. "All our staff members have been instructed not to leave headquarters, ensuring that assistance can be swiftly provided from the corporation office and nearby districts if required."
The team has also arranged resources to immediately compensate for any damages following the storm. Priority will be given to key infrastructure and services including hospitals, government offices, flour mills, and waterworks in affected areas. Subsequent assistance will then be provided to other areas.
The approaching Cyclone Biparjoy, following the recent Taute storm, brings another threat to the coast of Gujarat. The Meteorological Department forecasts potential impact on the coast of South Gujarat. In response, the District Magistrate has completed all necessary preparations.
Rainfall in some areas of Gujarat is expected due to the storm's influence. However, current models also suggest that the cyclone may veer towards Oman by June 12 and 13.
