Vadodara: Excellence in Rail Safety: Two Employees of Vadodara Division Honored by Western Railway's General Manager
Western Railway's General Manager Ramashray Pandey honored employees from various divisions for their outstanding safety work at the headquarters in Mumbai. These employees made significant contributions to ensuring safe and uninterrupted rail operations through their vigilance, quick decision-making, and dedication.
The honored employees include Ramkishan Meena, Locomotive Pilot (Goods), and Vijay Prakash Yadav, Assistant Locomotive Pilot/Vadodara from the Vadodara division, who were awarded the General Manager Safety Award for their remarkable contributions in the field of railway safety. According to a press release issued by Anubhav Saxena, Public Relations Officer of Vadodara division, Ramkishan Meena, Locomotive Pilot (Goods), during the operation of the VDLR/BCNE train passing through the DFCCIL section on April 18, 2026, noticed a sudden speed limit of 30 km/h displayed on the speed indicator while passing through New Udhna station. It is noteworthy that no prior warning order had been issued regarding this.
Understanding the seriousness of the situation immediately, he demonstrated extreme vigilance, presence of mind, and promptness by safely controlling the train's speed to the designated limit without any delay. As a result of his timely and prudent action, full compliance with safety regulations was ensured, effectively averting any potential unsafe situation. Mr. Vijay Prakash Yadav, Assistant Locomotive Pilot/Vadodara, while proceeding to take charge of locomotive number 38195 (ASN) in Dahej on April 18, 2026, noticed a bright flash in the pantograph while entering the yard.
Considering the seriousness of the situation, he demonstrated extreme vigilance and promptness by stopping the locomotive immediately and lowering the pantograph. He also promptly informed the concerned TLC/CTO, BRC about the incident. Subsequently, a joint inspection revealed that the issue had arisen due to inadequate maintenance of the OHE, leading to wear/fault in the contact wire.
His timely vigilance and quick action helped safeguard the locomotive and OHE equipment from potential serious damage and effectively averted a possible unsafe situation. General Manager Ramashray Pandey praised the awarded employees, stating that their dedication, alertness, and commitment to work symbolize the strong safety culture of Western Railway and serve as an inspiration for other employees.
Vadodara Division Railway Manager Raju Bhadke also congratulated Ramkishan Meena and Vijay Prakash Yadav on this achievement, appreciating their excellent safety work and encouraging them to continue working with the same vigilance in the future.
