Vadodara Food Safety Officials Conduct On-Site Testing at Night Market in Honor of World Food Safety Day
75 Samples from 14 Shops Examined Using 'Food Safety on Wheels', All Reported to Be Genuine
As part of the World Food Safety Day commemoration, a team from the Food Branch of Vadodara Corporation conducted surprise checks of food items at various locations. The checks included on-the-spot testing using their 'Food Safety on Wheels' initiative. In response to instructions from Gandhinagar, the team also executed raids across different areas and collected various samples for testing.
In line with World Food Safety Day, the Food Safety Officers of the Food Branch of Vadodara Municipal Corporation set up an awareness camp at Sayajibagh and Ratri Bazar. The camp benefitted approximately 150 individuals. Food Safety on Wheels, during their routine, tested on-site a total of 100 samples of diverse food items. These included butter, coconut chutney, oil, green and red chutneys, sambhar, red garlic chutney, paneer, mixed fruit jam, seasoning sauce, tandoori sauce, paneer mayonnaise, chocolate, milk bar, chaat masala, oranges, sugarcane juice, and curd.
In addition, 75 samples from 14 different shops in the night market were also tested on-site. All the samples have been reported to be authentic. The team collected samples of ghee, mavo, paneer, and various oils from areas including Dandiya Bazar, Hathipol, Lakdi Pol, and Hathikhana. Additionally, chili-spices, turmeric, chili, garam masala, and cumin were sampled from the Ajwa Road and Waghodia Road area. A total of 45 samples were collected and have been sent to the Public Health Laboratory Fateganj for further examination.
