Surat: Two Bangladeshi Girls Abscond from Women's Shelter in Mysterious Circumstances
Rescued from Spa and Awaiting Deportation, the Girls' Escape Captured on CCTV; Investigation Underway
A women's shelter on Ghoddod Road, Surat, has been thrown into turmoil following the mysterious disappearance of two Bangladeshi girls, who were under protective custody after being rescued from a spa where they were illegally trafficked for prostitution. The baffling incident, which took place on Wednesday around 1 pm, has been captured on the shelter's CCTV system, providing crucial leads for the investigation.
Unlike the routine protocol at the Women's Protection Home, where all girls are taken from their first-floor accommodations to another room for meals, the two girls abstained from breakfast and remained in their room.
When the other occupants and staff returned, they found the Bangladeshi girls missing. The entire facility was scoured, but to no avail. Upon inspection, the grill of a rear kitchen window was discovered to be broken, hinting at their possible escape route.
Footage from the shelter's CCTV reveals that the girls exploited a period of solitude to break the grill, slide down, and flee towards a nearby municipal park.
At the time of the escape, preparations were underway to deport the girls back to Bangladesh. Responding to the incident, a team from Umra police station arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation, basing their initial inquiries on the captured CCTV footage.
