Monsoon Expected to Hit Gujarat Between June 20-25, Forecasts Meteorological Department

The much-awaited monsoon is set to grace Gujarat between June 20 and 25, according to a forecast by the Meteorological Department. The department, which confirmed the arrival of monsoons in Kerala on Thursday, anticipates the monsoons to cover the entire state of Kerala in the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the forecast predicts rainfall in Gujarat over the next five days, with South Gujarat and Saurashtra being the prime recipients. The weather experts attribute the predicted rainfall to the imminent change in wind direction induced by an offshore cyclone and increased moisture content in the air.

Rain showers are expected to scatter across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Currently, a cyclonic storm is brewing in the sea, located approximately 930 km away from Porbandar, generating winds with speeds reaching up to 130 km per hour. Consequently, wind speeds are anticipated to escalate further in the state in the next two days. Despite the expected rainfall, temperatures are unlikely to fluctuate over the next five days, hovering around 40 degrees.

Gujarat can expect an array of thunderstorms over the next five days, with moderate, scattered rainfall predicted across the state. Specific regions including Surat, Navsari, Dang, Valsad, Amreli, and Bhavnagar are likely to experience rainfall.

Furthermore, the department has forecasted rain for Surat, Navsari, Dang, Valsad, Narmada, Bharuch, Tapi, Amreli, Girsomnath, Bhavnagar, and Diu on both June 10 and 11, indicating a wet start to the monsoon season for these areas.
