Aamir Khan's Lagaan Returns to Theaters to Celebrate 25 Years, Fans Excited After Trailer Release

Mumbai, June 4. Aamir Khan's superhit film 'Lagaan' is returning to theaters to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

From June 12 to 14, audiences will have the opportunity to watch this classic film on the big screen. Aamir Khan and director Ashutosh Gowariker's historical film will complete 25 years of its release on June 15, 2026. To commemorate this special occasion, the makers have decided to re-release the film in theaters.

The film will be showcased in select theaters across the country on June 12, 13, and 14. Aamir Khan Productions has shared a new trailer of 'Lagaan' on its social media platforms, stating that it is a timeless story that touched every heart. On the 25th anniversary of 'Lagaan', audiences will get a chance to see it on the big screen again.

The approximately 2 minutes and 49 seconds long trailer features glimpses of the film's most thrilling cricket match. The trailer begins with Bhuvan's thoughts before the last ball, highlighting the suspense of needing five runs to win against the British challenge, which still captivates audiences today. Released in 2001, 'Lagaan' has been one of the most talked-about films in Indian cinema.

The story revolves around a village during British rule and the issue of lagan (tax). Aamir Khan played the role of Bhuvan, while Gracy Singh portrayed his love interest Gauri. The film also featured British actress Rachel Shelley and actor Paul Blackthorne in significant roles, along with notable performances by Raghubir Yadav, Yashpal Sharma, Aditya Lakhia, Pradeep Rawat, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and A.K. Hangal.

'Lagaan' not only excelled at the box office but also brought glory to India on an international level, being nominated for the Oscar Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category. It is still considered one of the most inspiring and classic films in Indian cinema.
