Surat: Strict action taken against illegal collection from patients at new civil hospital, operator removed after video goes viral
Surat. Following the circulation of a video on social media showing a computer operator from an outsourcing agency allegedly collecting 20 rupees from patients at the case window of the new civil hospital in Surat, the hospital administration has taken immediate strict action.
Taking the matter seriously, the concerned operator has been removed from duty. An emergency review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Parul Vadgama, the medical superintendent of the new civil hospital. The meeting was attended by Resident Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Ketan Nayak, In-charge Nursing Superintendent Iqbal Kadiwala, contractors from various outsourcing agencies, supervisors, data operators, and security officers.
The hospital administration clarified that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted towards corruption, financial irregularities, and indiscipline in the hospital. The administration stated that no one who jeopardizes the interests of patients would be spared. Dr. Parul Vadgama instructed all data operators and staff to treat patients coming to the hospital, especially the poor and needy, with respect, sensitivity, and courtesy.
She emphasized that names, addresses, and other necessary details should be recorded with utmost care and accuracy during patient registration to avoid any issues in the treatment process. She also directed that all staff should perform their responsibilities with transparency, integrity, and promptness to save patients' time and ensure timely medical services. The hospital administration has instructed the supervisors of outsourcing agencies to regularly monitor the case window and related procedures.
Additionally, it has been mandated that all staff should report to duty on time and adhere to the established rules. The administration warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against any employee in the future if complaints of bribery, financial irregularities, or mistreatment of patients arise.
