Surat Metro Construction Causing Traffic Jams in Bhatar-Althan Area
Lack of Planning and Coordination Between Municipality, Police and Metro System Worsens Traffic Conditions in the City.
Residents of Surat's Althan Bhatar area are facing heavy traffic during peak hours due to the ongoing metro construction work. The road from Bhatar Crossroads to Althan is closed on one side, and the movement of big vehicles is causing traffic jams. The municipality, police, and metro company have not taken any measures to alleviate the traffic problem, which is causing frustration among people.
The construction of the metro is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, but due to the lack of planning, the traffic problem in some areas of the city is worsening. Many roads in the city, including Savani Road, Palanpur Jakatnaka area, and Kot Area have been partially closed due to metro operations, leading to traffic jams.
The most significant problem is in the Althan Bhatar area, where the road has become narrow due to the metro construction work. Passing large vehicles through this narrow road has become challenging, leading to the danger of accidents during peak hours. The problem of traffic jams on this road is causing people to be stuck for hours.
The municipality, police, and metro company must take immediate action to solve the traffic problem, which is becoming permanent and causing inconvenience to the people of Surat.
