Surat: District Lawyers Association Submits Representation Letter to Collector and Police Commissioner

Surat. The Surat District Lawyers Association submitted a representation letter to the District Collector and the City Police Commissioner on Monday regarding various administrative and legal issues.

The association specifically highlighted matters related to the permission process under the Disturbed Areas Act. On this occasion, Preeti Joshi, a member of the Bar Council of Gujarat, also presented several important topics to the District Collector both in writing and verbally. She emphasized the need to expedite the processing of applications related to e-stamping to avoid unnecessary delays for citizens and lawyers.

She also raised the issue of cases involving senior citizens, stating that hearings in the Maintenance Tribunal proceed at a relatively slow pace, making it difficult for the elderly to obtain timely justice. A separate representation letter was submitted to the Collector demanding that the process be made more effective and expedited. Additionally, the representation given to the Police Commissioner drew attention to the process of addressing complaints related to lawyers.

Preeti Joshi noted that in many cases where lawyers themselves are complainants, a contentious atmosphere arises, leading to situations where cross-complaints are filed between parties. The need for ensuring fair and sensitive action in such cases was emphasized. The Surat District Lawyers Association and the Bar Council of Gujarat have requested the administration and police department to consider these issues positively and take necessary steps.
