Mumbai, May 28. Bollywood star Manoj Bajpayee has stated that his dream of working with Vipul Amrutlal Shah has been fulfilled.
Following the intriguing teaser of the film 'Governor', which has already heightened fans' anticipation, the makers have now released a powerful trailer. This trailer depicts a crucial and delicate period in India's economic history when the country was on the brink of bankruptcy in 1990. The trailer effectively captures that tense and challenging time in the country, which has been further enhanced by the remarkable performances of Manoj Bajpayee and Ada Sharma.
Manoj Bajpayee plays the lead role in the film and has been waiting to work with Vipul Amrutlal Shah for a long time. While discussing the trailer launch of 'Governor', Manoj Bajpayee mentioned that he has known Vipul for many years but they never had the opportunity to work together. He had been inquiring about a project with him since Vipul is a highly successful producer in the industry.
About 4.5 years ago, he contacted me for this film, and I found the first draft so exciting that our discussions continued thereafter. Inspired by true events, the film 'Governor' brings to the screen India's worst economic crisis of the 1990s. The trailer offers a glimpse of a very interesting story, where national award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee appears as a governor in a way never seen before.
Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, the co-producer of this film is Ashin A. Shah. The script has been collaboratively written by Suvendu Bhattacharjee, Saurabh Bharat, Ravi Asrani, and Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
The film features songs written by Javed Akhtar, which have been composed by Amit Trivedi. The film is fully prepared to be released in theaters on June 12, 2026.
