Tensions have escalated significantly between Iran and the US amid ongoing peace talks. The US has directly targeted Iranian naval vessels and missile sites in the Hormuz and Bandar Abbas regions.
Following the US attack, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a very aggressive statement, clearly stating that Israel's elimination from the world map is now completely certain after this new attack. This dangerous threat from Iran is being considered a serious warning of a potential large military confrontation in West Asia. US President Donald Trump had expressed hope for peace with Iran just hours before this severe attack.
However, this sudden major attack has plunged the entire world into deep concern over a new and terrible global war. Iran has claimed that it has effectively thwarted the US's dangerous intentions by giving a strong response. According to the US Central Command, laying mines in Hormuz could pose a significant and direct threat to international shipping.
To immediately counter this serious threat, the US Navy has taken this tough and crucial military step. The military has made it clear that the safety of US soldiers will always remain their top priority, even during a ceasefire. After the US attack, Iran has described it as a direct violation of the ceasefire and has warned of a very strong retaliatory action.
The Iranian military has claimed that it shot down a US drone that intruded into the Persian Gulf. Iran's air defense system is fully active and has already taken significant action against the US MQ-9 Reaper drone. Iran has also claimed that it has continuously fired upon US surveillance drones and stealth fighter jets.
Following this heavy firing, US aircraft were completely forced to retreat to save their lives. Iran has made it clear that if the US attacks again, their response will be much more severe this time. Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi stated that they have identified all necessary targets and are prepared for war.
He warned that if Iran is prevented from exporting oil, the entire region's oil supply will be halted permanently. Iran has also reiterated that it will always maintain complete control over the strategic Hormuz Strait.
