Surat: To promote higher education and research in South Gujarat, the 'SGCCI Golden Jubilee Memorial Trust' has announced a doctoral fellowship scheme for Ph.D. Research scholars.
The trust has invited applications from talented and economically needy researchers. Selected candidates will receive financial assistance of up to ₹3 lakhs over three years for their research work. Nikhil Madrasi, president of the South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), mentioned that the trust has previously successfully awarded this scholarship to Bhavesh N.
Desai from SVNIT and Aniket H. Sawant from Uka Tarsadia University. Rajnikant Marfatia, chairman of the SGCCI Golden Jubilee Memorial Trust and former president of the chamber, stated that this initiative, launched with the cooperation of the industry and academia, aims to establish better coordination between academia and industry and was initiated in 2025.
Under this initiative, major industrial groups such as Rajhans Group, Colortex, Ather Industries, Anupam Rasayan, and Enviro Control will provide fellowships to talented researchers. Researchers whose work is related to Pure Science, Biotechnology, IT, Pharma, Engineering, or Management Sciences will be eligible to apply for the fellowship. Additionally, applicants must be registered for a Ph.D.
At any recognized government or private university in the districts of Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Dang, Bharuch, and Tapi in South Gujarat. The Chamber of Commerce has appealed to all eligible research scholars in South Gujarat to take maximum advantage of this scheme and complete their application process within the deadline.
