Emotional Homecoming for 200 Gujarati Fishermen Released by Pakistan

In a heartwarming turn of events, 200 fishermen from Gujarat who had been detained in Pakistan for three years returned to their homeland, touching off emotional scenes of joy and relief.

The Government of Pakistan decided to release the detained Gujarati fishermen, the second such gesture in recent times, following an earlier release of 184 fishermen. The latest group of 200 fishermen was transferred to the Wagah Border Fisheries Department, marking the first leg of their journey home.

They arrived in Vadodara via train, then continued to Veraval by bus. Once in Vadodara, they were initially received by government officials at a local college in Kidivav for a brief interrogation, following which they were joyously reunited with their families.

Over the years, the longing for their return had built up amongst the Gujarati communities. Both young and old residents had eagerly gathered at Kidivav to welcome the released fishermen home. The tear-filled reunion, after a three-hour interrogation, evoked emotional scenes on the college campus, with families expressing their joy and relief.

Families from regions as far as Bet Dwarka, including Veraval, had travelled to witness the heartwarming occasion. Khushi, one of the relatives, was seen with tears of happiness streaming down her face at the reunion with her long-separated family members. This joyous occasion was punctuated with tight embraces and shared laughter.

In a touching display of hope, one fisherman named Adremanbhai used this opportunity to appeal to the authorities for the release of his three sons, who have been incarcerated in Pakistan for the past two years. This emotional homecoming, while a cause for celebration, served as a stark reminder of others who are still waiting for their loved ones to return.
