Surat: Health Minister Honored for Historic Recruitment in Nursing Sector, Association Expresses Gratitude
A delegation from the Nursing Association met with the state's Health Minister, Prafulbhai Pansheriya, to congratulate him on significant progress and a transparent recruitment process in the nursing sector. During this meeting, the association expressed gratitude for the important decisions made by the state government regarding the nursing cadre.
Health Minister Pansheriya stated that nursing is not just a profession but a coordination of service and sensitivity. He emphasized that the essence of culture along with service is the true foundation of modern healthcare systems. According to him, if practical aspects are combined with spiritual values in nursing education, healthcare services can become more humane and effective.
Iqbal Kadiwala, Vice President of the Nursing Council, mentioned that after COVID-19, over 500 nursing professionals from Gujarat have been selected by prestigious institutions in the country, such as AIIMS, which reflects the quality of nursing education in the state. He also informed that for the first time in the state's history, more than 50 nursing officers, principals, specialists, and professors have been appointed in a single year through GPSC. Additionally, over 5000 nursing staff have been permanently recruited in the past year, and more than 150 Assistant Nursing Superintendent positions have also been filled.
During the meeting, the association raised issues regarding nursing staff allowances, an increase in student stipends, resolution of pending promotion cases, and matters related to higher pay scales. The health minister showed a positive attitude towards all these topics and assured that a joint meeting with senior officials would be organized soon.
To further empower the nursing sector, a special seminar will be held in Ahmedabad in June, which will be attended by nursing experts and professionals from across the state. Several officials were present at the occasion, including Deepkamal Vyas, National Vice President of the Nursing Association, Hitesh Bhatt, Gujarat President, Hemdeep Patel, Joint Secretary, and Nilesh Lathia, Treasurer.
