Surat: Water pipeline bursts in Pandesara, drinking water flows on the streets
In Surat, amidst severe heat where many areas are facing water scarcity and low pressure issues, clean drinking water was seen flowing on the streets due to a main pipeline burst in the Ganesh Nagar area of Pandesara. After the incident, strong jets of water erupted on the road, creating a 'water park' like scene in the area.
Local children and youth were seen bathing in the flowing water, while some individuals washed their vehicles with it. A significant amount of precious drinking water was wasted during this time, leading to local residents' anger. According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred due to high pressure in the pipeline, causing water to flow on the road for an extended period.
Residents alleged that despite notifying the relevant department, no timely action was taken. This incident has affected the water supply for thousands of families in the vicinity. Such wastage of water and disruption of supply during this hot season has become a major inconvenience for the people.
In this regard, an official from the hydraulic department of Surat Municipal Corporation stated that the pipeline burst was due to a leak in the connection. A team has been dispatched to the site for repair work, and they assured that the issue would be resolved soon.
