Surat: Major action by SOG in Dindoli, four accused arrested with 60 tons of stolen TMT rods

Surat. The Surat City Special Operation Group (SOG) has uncovered a gang involved in stealing iron rods in the Dindoli area.

The police arrested four accused red-handed with approximately 59,910 kilograms (about 60 tons) of TMT rods near Bhagyalakshmi Society. The police seized goods worth around 71.52 lakh rupees, including iron rods worth 32.95 lakh rupees, a trailer worth 33 lakh rupees, a four-wheeler worth 5 lakh rupees, mobile phones, and cash. The arrested accused include Bheraram Rekharam Jakhad (Barmer, Rajasthan – truck driver), Nimbaram Babulal Jakhad (Barmer – cleaner), Pradeep Sadabrij Tripathi (Dindoli, originally from Uttar Pradesh), and Pradeep Kishanlal Sharma (Dindoli, originally from Rajasthan).

According to the police, all the accused were involved in stealing rods used in construction work and selling them in the market. The investigation revealed that the accused would extract a large quantity of goods from the shipment of rods during transportation and attempt to sell them at lower prices. There are also suspicions of involvement of other individuals related to transportation in this case.

DCP Rajdeep Singh Nakum stated that this was a well-planned conspiracy, and the accused were caught during a live raid. The police investigation also revealed that the main masterminds of this gang are Jitu and Rajan Tiwari, who are currently absconding. The police are searching for them, and their arrest may lead to the disclosure of the entire network.

Cases have been registered against all four accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code at the Dindoli police station. The police will take them into remand for questioning to gather information about other members of the gang and previous cases.

The most crucial aspect of this case now is identifying which traders or builders the stolen goods were being sold to. The police have clarified that if any buyer is found guilty during the investigation, strict legal action will be taken against them.
