On the occasion of their wedding anniversary, Shaileshbhai Kanjibhai Patel and his wife Champaben Patel have set an example of their responsibility towards humanity by pledging for organ and body donation. Dr.
Prafulbhai Shiroya mentioned that the positive impact of awareness campaigns run by the society and Lok Drishti Eye Bank and Red Cross Blood Bank for the past 30 years is now clearly visible. People are voluntarily coming forward for eye donation, organ donation, and body donation. Shaileshbhai Patel, originally from Patvadar village in the Gadhda taluka of Bhavnagar district, who has previously lived in Ahmedabad and currently resides in Surat's Nani Ved, Dabholi area, made this pledge with his wife.
Their decision has received full support from the family. Their son Hirenbhai, son Naynesh, daughter-in-law Hiraben, Pinalben, and other family members welcomed the couple's initiative. Shaileshbhai Patel expressed that the human body, given by God, is often destroyed due to ignorance, whereas if this body can help someone in need or assist medical students in their studies, it would be more meaningful.
With this sentiment, he and his wife made this decision. He also clarified that no religious rituals should be performed after their demise, to which the family agreed. Various organizations and dignitaries in the community have praised the Patel couple's commendable decision.
