IPL 2026: Ajinkya Rahane Fined 12 Lakhs for Slow Over Rate
Ajinkya Rahane, captain of Kolkata Knight Riders, has been fined 12 lakhs for maintaining a slow over rate during match number 22 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. This was the first violation of the season for his team under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over rate.
The match was played at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders, where Kolkata faced a defeat by 32 runs. Chennai Super Kings batted first, scoring 192 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
In response, Kolkata Knight Riders managed only 160 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs, falling short of the target. Thus, while Kolkata suffered a loss, captain Ajinkya Rahane was also fined for the slow over rate.
