Surat: The Sheladia family's tradition of service becomes an example, 106 people pledge to donate eyes and bodies

The inspiring service tradition of the Bhagats Veerbapa Sheladia family from the village of Bada Samadhiya has emerged as a model for society, thanks to the grace of Swaminarayan Bhagwan. The family's social services, linked to former mayor Asmitaben Shiroya's maternal side, continue to inspire new generations.

According to information provided by Dr. Praful Shiroya, Aksharnivasi Sonbai Ba (106 years) witnessed five generations during her lifetime and fulfilled her pledge of 'eye donation is a great donation' by donating her eyes after her death. Her husband, Aksharnivasi Bachubapa, who was a respected village elder of Bada Samadhiya, also dedicated his life to social service and donated his eyes after passing away.

Inspired by these noble values, their eldest son Aksharnivasi Babubhai Bachubhai Sheladia also donated his eyes, continuing the family's tradition. Additionally, the family's sister-in-law Aksharnivasi Diwaliben Bhikhabhai Sheladia donated her eyes and body after her death in Surat, providing new direction to society. Inspired by the ideals of the family's elders, the entire Sheladia family has now taken a grand pledge for eye and body donation.

Many members from five generations of Sonbai Ba have come forward to set a new example in society through this noble work. On the occasion of the twelfth ritual, 106 people pledged to donate their eyes, bodies, and organs after death.

A blood donation camp was also organized on this occasion, while the Bhagirath Youth Mandal presented a heartfelt program of devotional songs. Members from various organizations, including Dineshbhai Jogani, Lion Kishor Mangrolia, Lion Jagdish Bodra, Saurashtra Patel Samaj, Lok Drishti Eye Bank, Red Cross Blood Bank Surat, and Lions Club of Surat East, praised the family's spirit of service and deemed it inspirational for society.
