Major Water Supply Disruptions Expected in Key Areas in Surat This Weekend

Water Line Maintenance and Repair Work Set to Affect Multiple Zones; Residents Urged to Conserve and Store Water

Major Water Supply Disruptions Expected in Key Areas in Surat This Weekend

SURAT: Local residents in several areas of Surat Municipal Corporation, namely Udhna, Athwa, and Central Zone, are set to face water supply interruptions this weekend. A water line replacement at Majuragate and Khatodara water distribution stations necessitates this disruption.

The Surat Municipal Corporation's hydraulic department plans to carry out this maintenance operation, directly impacting the Central, Eighth, and Udhna zones on June 3rd and 4th. As a result, many areas may find water inaccessible, leading the municipal authority to call on residents to conserve and store water according to their needs.

In a further note, on June 3rd and 4th, the Udhna zone will see the repair of a leaking MS line at the Khatodara water distribution station's overhead tank. Additionally, the crucial task of connecting a relocated 450 mm diameter pipe with the existing 1100 mm diameter pipe is scheduled. This operation will take place from 8 am to 9 pm on June 3rd, preventing the refilling of the Khatodara overhead tank. A transmission pipeline closure from Rander to Khatodara consequently disrupts the regular water supply from Athwa water distribution station's underground tank.

This interruption will affect the water supply to Khatodara GIDC area and New Civil Hospital area in the Udhna A Zone and South West Zone (Eighth) on Saturday afternoon and evening. On Sunday, June 4th, water supply to Piplod Village, Umra Village, City Light, SVNIT College, Veer Narmad University, Ichhnath, Kargil Chowk, and nearby regions will not be available from 8:30 am to 12:30 am. Additionally, areas like Begumpura, Salabatpura, Gopipura, Sagarampura, Nanpura, Rudarpura, Soni Falia, and their environs will not receive water supply on the morning of June 4th.

Similarly, the first morning supply between 5 am and 8 am to certain areas of the Athva Zone such as New Civil Hospital area, Athva Gate, Athva Police Line, Panas Village Floor, Ghodod Road, Ram Chowk, Surgeon Society, Panjrapole, and surrounding societies will be interrupted on June 4th. The second supply from 8 am to 12:30 pm will also be disrupted. Water supply to several other areas, including Piplod, Umra Village, City Light, S.V.N.I.T. College, Veer Narmad Vishwavidyalaya, Ichchnath, Kargil Chowk, and their surrounds, may also be partially disrupted or reduced due to low pressure.

Due to the ongoing repair and line-shifting works, the three zones will likely face significant water supply challenges. In light of these imminent disruptions, the municipality reiterates its appeal to the affected residents to store adequate water and use it as sparingly as possible.
