LPG Supply Stable Amid Global Tensions, Avoid Panic Booking: Indian Oil

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), the country's largest oil company, stated that despite geopolitical events in the global energy market, the supply of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in India remains stable and sufficient. The company emphasized that domestic availability is its top priority, supplying around 28 lakh LPG cylinders daily, consistent with pre-tension levels.

The uninterrupted supply to households continues. IOC reported that approximately 87 percent of 'refill bookings' are being made through digital means, while a one-time password (OTP) based system is being used to confirm delivery to the correct consumer. The company stated that despite the current geopolitical events affecting global energy markets, the supply of LPG in India remains stable and sufficient, and it is being closely monitored.

It mentioned that the daily supply of about 28 lakh cylinders aligns with the normal distribution levels prior to the onset of the current geopolitical tensions. Consumers are encouraged to book LPG refills through digital platforms such as SMS and Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS). Currently, about 87 percent of bookings are being received through digital platforms.

To ensure that cylinders reach the correct consumer during delivery, delivery authentication codes (DAC) are being confirmed via OTP. IOC stated that it is attentive to concerns shared on its social media platforms and is committed to addressing them promptly. The company noted that irregularities have been reported through social media and consumer complaints regarding some LPG distributors.

To prevent black marketing and hoarding, various departmental teams are conducting surprise inspections at LPG distributor centers. According to IOC, over 7,500 inspections have been conducted, and action has been taken against 141 distributors, including the suspension of five. Approximately 68,000 raids have also been conducted in collaboration with state governments and other oil marketing companies.

In this regard, 855 FIRs have been registered, and over 48,000 cylinders have been seized. IOC has appealed to consumers not to panic and avoid booking or depositing cylinders, assuring that there is no shortage of LPG in the country and that people should rely only on information from official sources. The company reassured all its Indane customers that the supply is adequate and stable, and there is no shortage of LPG in the country.

Customers are advised to avoid queuing at LPG distributor centers, panic booking, or depositing cylinders. They are urged not to believe rumors and to trust only official sources. The company is fully committed to ensuring uninterrupted availability of LPG, transparency in distribution, and strict action against irregularities.
