Mumbai, April 2 — Hanuman Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Lord Hanuman, will be celebrated on Chaitra Purnima, which falls on Thursday. The inspiring tales of devotion, courage, strength, and loyalty of Hanuman have led many actors to bring this character to life on screen. as per agency report, notable names include the late Dara Singh and Devdutt Nage, among others who have won the hearts of audiences.
Dara Singh was not only a famous wrestler but also an excellent actor. He played the role of Hanuman in the film 'Bajrangbali' in 1976 and later became widely popular for his portrayal of Hanuman in Ramanand Sagar's famous TV show 'Ramayan' in 1987. Standing over 6 feet tall and weighing around 127 kilograms, he became a household name.
Raj Premi played the lead role of Hanuman in the 1997 show 'Jai Hanuman', produced by Sanjay Khan and aired on Doordarshan on Tuesdays. Initially a cricketer, he later transitioned to acting and also portrayed Shishupal in 'Shri Krishna'.
