US President warns Iran of attacks on power infrastructure if Strait of Hormuz is not opened

Washington - United States President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that if Tehran fails to open the strategically important Strait of Hormuz within forty-eight hours, the United States will launch new attacks on its power infrastructure.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, the President stated that if Iran does not fully open the Strait of Hormuz without any threats within the stipulated time, the United States will attack and destroy various Iranian power plants, beginning with the largest facility, as per agency report.

This declaration marks a significant escalation in rhetoric amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia. Tensions in the region have already disrupted shipping operations through the narrow waterway, which serves as a crucial route for global oil supply.

The Strait of Hormuz facilitates approximately one-fifth of the global oil trade. Its effective closure due to the ongoing war has triggered severe volatility in global energy markets and heightened geopolitical concerns worldwide.

Currently, Iran has permitted only selective vessels to navigate through the strait. Meanwhile, attempts by the United States President to establish a coalition of nations to patrol the waterway have remained unsuccessful, as key partners have shown reluctance to participate in the initiative.
