Zimbabwe coach Justin Sammons expects aggressive approach from India in T20 World Cup Super Eight clash

Mumbai – Zimbabwe head coach Justin Sammons is aware that India will adopt an aggressive stance against them in the T20 World Cup Super Eight match scheduled for Thursday. However, he believes that despite being considered underdogs, his team will be fully prepared for this crucial encounter, having drawn lessons from their crushing defeat against the West Indies.

The West Indies handed Zimbabwe a massive 107-run defeat in the Super Eight match played on Monday, while India also faced an 83-run loss against South Africa in their opening game. As per agency report, Sammons feels that the Indian team will attempt to dominate proceedings right from the start. He noted that they are aware of how India will play, suggesting their approach will mirror the tactics adopted by the West Indies, and that the Indian side will leave no stone unturned.

Reflecting on the learnings from the previous game, the coach emphasized that the experience would teach the team how to handle pressure, remain calm, and think quickly on their feet. He highlighted the importance of making necessary adjustments and finding ways to disrupt the rhythm of the opposing batters.

Sammons acknowledged the mistakes made against the West Indies, admitting that the opposition's predictions regarding their team, particularly the bowling unit, proved to be correct. He stressed that such errors must be avoided against India and that the team needs to act more intelligently in this regard. He further observed that the ground in Chennai is slightly larger, which might provide them with some advantage and make conditions a little easier for the team.
