Pushpa 2 sweeps 70th Filmfare Awards South with five major wins

Mumbai February 22. Allu Arjun's film Pushpa 2 has dominated the 70th Filmfare Awards South after creating a storm at the box office upon its release in 2024. The film broke all earnings records in India and globally. The movie, which was produced on a budget of approximately 500 crores, secured multiple accolades at the prestigious ceremony.

As per agency report, Pushpa 2 won the award for Best Film in the Telugu language, while Sukumar received the Best Director award. Allu Arjun was honored with the Best Actor award for his performance in the film, which was widely appreciated by the audience. The earnings figures indicate that breaking the records set by Pushpa 2 is a difficult task for any other film.

In addition to the major categories, Devi Sri Prasad won the Best Music Album award, and the title for Best Production Design was awarded to set designers Ramakrishna and Monica for the same film. In total, the film bagged five awards, which is the highest number of awards received by any single film in different categories at the 70th Filmfare Awards.

Released in 2024, the film witnessed massive earnings at the box office, collecting over 1800 crores globally. In India, the film earned approximately 1400 crores across all languages, with a significant contribution from the Hindi belt. On its opening day, the film surpassed the collections of RRR and KGF. While RRR collected 133 crores and KGF collected 116 crores on their respective opening days, Pushpa 2 collected approximately 163 crores, which is significantly higher than both films.
