Surat to host three-day Suvali Beach Festival to promote coastal tourism

Surat January 8: The state government is consistently making efforts to promote coastal tourism and develop marine areas into attractive tourist destinations. In line with this objective, the Gujarat Tourism Corporation and the Surat District Administration are jointly organizing the three-day Suvali Beach Festival-2026 at Suvali Beach near Surat from January 9 to January 11, 2026.

Choryasi Assembly constituency MLA Sandeepbhai Desai addressed a press conference at the Circuit House, stating that the festival will be inaugurated on January 9 at 5 pm by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi and Union Minister of Jal Shakti C. R. Patil. As per agency report, the MLA highlighted that under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Suvali Beach has been developed as a major tourist destination. The primary objective of this festival is to boost coastal tourism, generate employment at the local level, and provide tourists with an opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of the coastline. This initiative is expected to provide livelihood benefits to local stall operators and residents of the area.

Regarding traffic management, it was announced that from January 9 to January 11, the route from Ichhapore Highway via Mora Highway circle through the L&T road to Suvali will remain a one-way passage daily from 4 pm to 10 pm. The entry of heavy vehicles will be prohibited during these hours. To ensure convenience for tourists, city buses and ST buses will operate on 19 routes throughout the three days. From a security perspective, approximately 800 police and traffic personnel will be deployed at the venue. Additionally, fire brigade units, lifeguards, ambulances, and health teams will remain on standby.

The beach festival will feature a total of 130 stalls, including a food court, craft stalls, photo corners, and an entertainment zone. Visitors will be able to enjoy various activities such as camel and horse riding, jeep riding, kite flying, tug of war, and other indigenous and traditional games. Tourists will have the opportunity to enjoy dining and shopping amidst the ocean waves.

Cultural and musical programs are scheduled for each day of the festival. Performances will be delivered by Osman Mir and Amir Mir on January 9 at 5:30 pm, followed by Bhoomi Trivedi on January 10 at 7:00 pm, and Satvani Trivedi on January 11 at 7:00 pm. Special arrangements have been made to cater to everyone from adventure sports enthusiasts to those who enjoy shopping and food. The food court will feature stalls serving traditional and modern delicacies, including Nagli dishes, Dangi dishes, Umbadiyu, and Bajra. A separate entertainment zone for children and selfie points for capturing memories with family and friends will also be available. The Suvali Beach Festival-2026 aims to offer tourists a combined experience of culture, music, sports, and the picturesque marine environment.
