Rajkot : Tourist entry restricted at Osam Hill for state-level mountaineering competition
Rajkot, January 25. In view of the state-level mountaineering competition scheduled to be held on January 2, 2026, at Osam Hill situated in Patanvav of Dhoraji Taluka, a temporary ban has been imposed on the movement of tourists and the general public. This decision has been taken to ensure the smooth organization of the competition and to guarantee the safety of the participants involved in the event.
According to the notification issued by Rajkot Additional District Magistrate N.K. Muchhare, no general tourist, pilgrim, or other individual will be permitted to visit the foothills and stairs of Osam Mountain from 12 midnight to 12 noon on the day of the competition, January 2, 2026. It is noted, as per agency report, that this restriction will not apply to authorized officials associated with the competition, volunteers, and government employees deployed on duty.
The administration has clarified that this measure has been implemented with the objective of protecting the mountaineers participating in the competition from any kind of inconvenience and ensuring that the event is conducted in a safe and orderly manner. Punitive action will be taken in accordance with the rules against individuals found violating the notification. The administration has further appealed to the general public and tourists to adhere to the restrictions during the specified time period and extend their cooperation to the authorities.
