Western Railway installs indigenous Kavach safety system on Bajwa-Ahmedabad section
Vadodara, December 29. In a significant step towards strengthening safety in rail operations, the Signal and Telecommunication Department of the Vadodara Division of Western Railway has successfully installed the indigenous Automatic Train Protection system known as Kavach on the 96-kilometer long Bajwa-Ahmedabad rail section. The implementation of this system is expected to lead to a remarkable increase in safety on the concerned rail section while ensuring safe train operations even at high speeds.
Divisional Railway Manager Raju Bhadke is scheduled to inspect the Kavach system on this newly protected route on December 29, 2025, aboard the Vadodara-Ahmedabad Fast Passenger train. As per agency report, the Vadodara Division has achieved this significant milestone under his efficient guidance.
According to a press release issued by Anubhav Saxena, the Public Relations Officer of the Vadodara Division of Western Railway, all locomotives operating on this section have been equipped with the Kavach system. This indigenous technology has been developed to automatically mitigate potential safety risks in rail operations.
The key features of the Kavach system include the prevention of passing a signal at danger, automatic speed control on main rail sections and loop lines, and protection against head-on and rear-end collisions. The implementation of this system is being viewed as another strong step towards ensuring passenger safety and building a safe and modern rail network for Indian Railways.
