School Incorporates Yagya Ceremonies as a Ritual for Student Birthdays

Unique Birthday Celebrations at Karnavati International School in Rajkot

Rajkot: Karnavati International School, located in Railnagar, has embraced a unique approach to celebrate the birthdays of its students. Distinct from the usual custom of distributing chocolates or organizing parties, the school has instituted a rule to conduct a Yagya, a traditional Hindu ritual, on the birthday of every student.

The Yagya ceremony is performed by a specially appointed Shastriji within the school premises. Students and teachers whose birthdays coincide are offered oblations in the Yagya, making the experience profoundly personal.

Each Yagya ceremony includes a recital of verses to the birthday celebrant during the offering of oblations. Along with the recital, the meanings of the verses are also explained to the celebrant. This unique practice aims to imbibe strong ethical values and character in the students.

Post the ritual, the celebrants are given a series of resolutions intended to instill values of respect towards parents and teachers, support for elders, and an encouragement towards integrity. The resolutions also promote a commitment to abstain from addictions, maintain a prudent usage of mobile phones, and discourage cheating in exams.

The innovative approach by Karnavati International School towards celebrating birthdays adds a spiritual and value-oriented dimension, making each student's special day meaningful and unforgettable.
