Surat Completes 100 Percent SIR Digitization; Over 12 Lakh Voters Categorized as ASD
Surat, December 9. The administration has successfully completed 100 percent of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) digitization work across all 16 assembly constituencies in the district. Out of a total of 48,73,512 registered voters in Surat, 73.68 percent, translating to 35,90,896 individuals, have submitted their forms, ensuring their inclusion in the final draft of the voter list.
A significant number of voters, totaling 12,68,986, did not return their forms and have been recorded under the Absent-Shifted-Death (ASD) category. As per agency report, this figure includes 1,45,460 voters who have passed away, 8,70,958 who have permanently migrated, and 1,29,346 who were not found at their residences. The assembly-wise list of these ASD voters has been made available on the official website of the Surat Collectorate for public verification.
Surat District Election Officer and Collector Dr. Saurabh Pardhi addressed a press conference to announce that voters who have not yet submitted their forms still have an opportunity to do so. They can submit their documents to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) on December 9, 10, and 11. Specifically on December 10, BLOs will be present at their designated polling stations from 10 am to 5 pm to assist voters in updating their information.
The administration has clarified that failure to submit the form within the stipulated time will result in the removal of the voter's name from the draft list. However, as a final recourse, individuals can still get their names re-added by filling out Form-6 even after the publication of the final list on December 16. The Collector emphasized that the entire process, ranging from door-to-door enumeration and form collection to the final conversion of data into digital format, was completed smoothly.
