Union Minister Nitin Gadkari lauds Surat e-vehicle policy and reviews Delhi-Mumbai Expressway progress

Surat, November 28: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari arrived at Surat Airport from Gandhinagar on Thursday morning as part of his two-day visit to Gujarat. Upon his arrival, he was received and welcomed by Mayor Dakshesh Mawani, BJP City President Paresh Patel, and other office bearers of the municipal corporation.

During the visit, the Mayor informed the Union Minister that Surat possesses the highest number of e-vehicles in Gujarat, accounting for approximately 35 percent of the total vehicles operating in the city. Gadkari expressed his admiration after learning about the Surat Municipal Corporation's e-vehicle policy. He specifically appreciated the fact that a city had independently implemented an e-vehicle policy for the first time in the country.

The Minister also reviewed the progress of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway works passing through the Surat district. He stated that the government is making continuous efforts to complete this project as soon as possible. As per agency report, he mentioned that new innovations would be implemented in the near future to make this expressway safer, more comfortable, and high-tech for commuters.

Outlining future plans, Gadkari indicated that the large-scale operation of electric trucks and electric buses would soon commence in the country. He emphasized that the objective is to bring the world's best technology to India and utilize it for the convenience of the common people. Observing the e-vehicle policy and technological advancements in Surat, the Union Minister termed the city's initiative as a model for the nation.
