Amit Shah Criticizes Congress for Neglecting OBC Community

Ahmedabad, 21 May - Union Home Minister Amit Shah lambasted the Congress party for its historical negligence of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) community during his speech at the National General Conference of Modi Samaj held in Shahi Bagh, Ahmedabad.

Shah stated that during the Congress party's 56-year reign, the OBC community was disregarded, subjected to humiliation, and received no substantial benefits. In contrast, Shah underscored the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) commitment to respecting and uplifting the OBC community.

"It was the BJP that gave the country its first prime minister from the OBC community," Shah said. He also highlighted that the Modi-led government includes 27 central ministers from the OBC community and that the BJP has nominated the highest number of Chief Ministers from this group. Furthermore, the BJP government has also amended the OBC list repeatedly, according to Shah.

The Union Home Minister enumerated the BJP government's numerous schemes and measures dedicated to the OBCs and the economically disadvantaged sections. He cited the provision of gas cylinders to 13 crore poor households, health insurance coverage of 5 lakhs for 17 crore people, and distribution of 5 kg free food grains to 80 crore individuals as landmark achievements during the Modi government's 9-year tenure.

During the event, Shah also lauded Purnesh Modi, BJP's Surat West MLA and working president of Modi Samaj, whose petition led to the court revoking former Congress President Rahul Gandhi's membership in a defamation case concerning the Modi community.

Expressing his delight at the united gathering of Modeshwari Mata worshippers, Shah praised Prime Minister Modi's arduous journey and significant contributions as the Chief Minister that paved the way for his current role as the country's Prime Minister.

The national convention was organized by the Samast Gujarati Modh Modi Samaj Trust, headed by Somabhai Modi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's elder brother. Purnesh Modi, the trust's executive head, was also in attendance.
