Vadodara Teams Dominate SGFI State Level Basketball Championships

Vadodara, November 19, 2025: Vadodara city teams showcased a powerful performance at the recently concluded SGFI State Level Basketball Competitions held in Patan, dominating several age categories. The boys' Under-17 and girls' Under-14 teams secured first place with impressive victories in their respective final matches.

The boys' Under-14 team also demonstrated excellent play, achieving second place in the competition, while the boys' Under-19 team finished fourth. The boys' Under-17 team clinched the gold medal by defeating host Patan in the final, and the girls' Under-14 team triumphed over Bhavnagar to win their title.

Dr. Arjun Singh Makwana, Sports Director and Convener of BRG Group, stated that all schools in Vadodara have well-maintained basketball court facilities and provide regular training by experienced coaches. This continuous training and structured approach are consistently producing outstanding players from the city each year, as per agency report.

Dr. Makwana also noted that Vadodara city teams have consistently achieved top positions in SGFI, CBSE, and other competitions, including the Khel Mahakumbh, for several years. He, along with coaches from various Vadodara schools, was present during the competitions to encourage the players.
